The Happiest Day of My Life
Frankly, it’s hard to choose the happiest day of my life. One because I have several happiest moments and two because I may have spent a lot of my days in my head i.e. preventing me from experiencing all my emotions. I also do not subscribe to the mainstream idea of happiness. For example, on my graduation, I was too stressed and too tired to enjoy the moment. But I was so happy to see butterflies that evening.
My happiest moments are those I get to do something for myself. I enjoy good food and good music. Whenever I have a chance to eat and listen to some of my favourite playlists, I’m overjoyed. The last time I went on a date, a solo date I had just received my first writing money. It felt so good. I felt unstoppable like the stars had finally aligned. I spent the entire time expressing gratitude to myself.
I am the happiest when recipes come out right. As a food lover and connoisseur reciprocating and tweaking a recipe is a favorite thing to do. My favorite things to make at the moment oven roasted meat, some soft githeri and ugali Sukuma wiki and beef; I will also be learning how to make Biriani. As I do not own an oven, crossing my fingers and manifesting one, I have only had a few chances of baking. I have baked thrice. Two cakes came out bad, one was extremely dry and the other too soggy. One cake came out well and I was super proud of myself. I’d say finding a good recipe and tweaking it to fit my tastebuds is up there with touching the moon. I also enjoy well-baked cakes. The closest I’ve been to heaven was tasting Java House Chocolate Cake (Choco fudge), and my current favourite is the mint Choco from Valentine’s Cake House. These two cakes seem to summon all forms of happy feelings in me. I want to be a Choco mint cake.
I am also happiest when animals and I are friends. I love petting dogs, and I love feeding the birds. In campus, I’d take these long walks petting strays and watching the birds. As I look back, I am grateful I went to a school where I could freely bird-watch. On sad days you will find me enjoying tons of cat and dog videos. On my Pinterest, I have a board for my pets and me. In the near future, I’d love to own a British long-haired cat and then a dog once my compound is big enough.
I am happy when I’m in a position to love my friends and family.
